The representative will report to the cocoa programme managers at Solidaridad the Netherlands and at West Africa Fair Fruit (Ghana), and has close contact with the cocoa programme team at UTZ CERTIFIED (the Netherlands).
Requirements:
Our ideal candidate is an experienced professional (minimum 5 years), with both NGO and business experience, educated to Master degree level, and able to operate in different environments. You understand the social and environmental challenges in cocoa production and trade, and create pragmatic solutions for improvements.
You have management experience in cocoa production and/or trading, and are able to connect to people at different levels within organisations. You have (or would be able to quickly develop) a broad network in cocoa production and trading, and have excellent presentation skills, with the ability to represent Solidaridad and UTZ CERTIFIED at all levels. You have strong interpersonal skills, and have experience of delivering training with an engaging manner.
You are a self-starter, able to deliver in a complex environment. You have an analytical mind and have the capacity to develop coherent plans for the growth and expansion of the programme.
You are fluent in English and are able to provide written reports on the progress of the programme.
Main Responsibilities:
The main responsibility of the representative will be to execute the Solidaridad programme in Nigeria. This includes:
1. Developing a network with all stakeholders in the national cocoa sector and develop relationships with the different standard setters;
2. Analysing the cocoa sector to identify opportunities and challenges for the implementation of UTZ CERTIFIED cocoa in Nigeria;
3. Advocacy of UTZ CERTIFIED, as a means of promoting sustainable cocoa production and trading, to producers, NGOs, companies, government bodies and international donor organisations;
4. Development of a national workshop on sustainable certified cocoa;
5. Identifying project partners and potential service providers, and developing new projects with them targeted on using certification as a tool to improving cocoa producers’ livelihoods;
6. Monitoring progress of these projects and developing solutions to issues that arise;
7. Organising training of technical assistants in the implementation of certification activities, and other capacity building initiatives (with support from West Africa Fair Fruit);
8. Creating links between producer organisations, exporters and market opportunities in Europe and the US.
Remuneration:
The post is a full time job with good remuneration in a challenging and fast developing international organisation. Contract will be 1 year in length, with the option for annual renewal.

The New Partners Initiative Technical Assistance Project (NuPITA) is a four-year USAID-funded program working in eight countries (Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Nigeria) to provide technical assistance to fifteen organizations working in HIV & AIDS that have received funding from USA1D under the President’s Emergency Fund for AIDS Reliefs New Partners Initiative (NPI). NPI was created to build the capacity of organizations to work at the community level and support the long-term response to HIV & AIDS. NPI increases the number and diversity of organizations working on the USG’s efforts to address HIV &A1DS around the world.
NuPITA is seeking a dynamic, competent and highly motivated person to fill a local position and provide direct technical assistance support to an NPI partner organization based in Nigeria, namely The Children of Hope Project.
Children of Hope (CH) is a USAID Washington funded PEPFAR project in Nigeria whose main focus is on providing assistance to scale up community level HIV / AIDS services to Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and assist caregivers of OVC with livelihood assistance. It is a 3 year project (currently in year two) targeted at assisting 12,000 OVC and 4,000 widows and single parent caregivers in six states in Nigeria. CH also provides prevention interventions to 10,000 beneficiaries, which include young adults, teenagers, in school and out of school youth and family members of the children in the communities where the project is working. The states CH is working in include Oyo, Edo, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
JOB TITLE: NPI Advisor

Position Summary:
NuPITA seeks an NPI Advisor with experience in Organizational Development and Program Management to work with CH staff members building the capacity of nine Indigenous Service Providers (ISPs).
Job Summary:
This position will be based in Abuja, Nigeria with travel to sites and partner offices. The NPI advisor is expected to:
- Provide support to CH staff members who are tasked with strengthening the internal organizational processes of the ISPs.
- Assist CH staff members as they develop systematic and continuous quality management processes among the ISPs.
- Assist CH staff members in the evaluation of ISPs office processes and determine the organizational effectiveness interventions
- Assist CH staff members review existing manuals and develop operational manuals and step down training in operations management for ISPs.
- Support CH Operations/HR manager in the training of ISP staff on key HR and Administrative processes.
- Support CH staff members as they work with the staff of the ISPs to address Administrative/HR issues identified during the 2010 Organizational Capacity Assessment exercise carried out for CH ISPs.

Required Qualification:
The qualified candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field, or Management background or equivalent training and experience.
Experience:
- At least five years of professional experience in managing technical assistance and capacity building support to civil society organizations; and strong experience with organizational assessment and strategic planning especially in African countries.
- Seven to ten years of professional experience with organizational development with an emphasis on developing systems, process and tools.
- Experience in mentoring and participatory leadership
- Experience in capacity building and coaching
- Experience in working on programs funded by USA1D. Experience with PEPFAR programs is a plus.

• Plan and coordinate all activities in the project lifecycle, from the conceptual design, front end engineering, detailed engineering procurement, and construction to commissioning of oil and gas facilities.
• Ensure compliance of codes, standards, regulation and practices applicable to the design and construction of Onshore and Offshore production facilities (e.g API, ASME, ANSI, AGA, ISA, etc).

Person Profile:
• Minimum of 2nd Class Honors (upper division) University degree in an Engineering discipline. Must be registered/certified by a Professional Engineering Institution.
• Approximately 8 to 15 years experience in design and construction of oil and gas production facilities.
• Possess a good working understanding of the areas of process, mechanical, piping, structural, electrical and instrumentation engineering as they relate to onshore and offshore oil and gas production facilities.
• Good knowledge of all aspects of project management of oil and gas projects from conceptual engineering to commissioning.

The State Partnership for Accountability Responsiveness and Capability (SPARC) is a major programme funded by the UK Government’s Department for International Development and managed by HTSPE Ltd assisting the Nigerian Government to build on governance reforms already under way in five states (Enugu, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano and Lagos) and at Federal level. The programme started in September 2008 and will run for six years.
We are now looking for a Senior Technical Officer (STO) to join the SPARC Team. The STO will be based at the SPARC Lagos office. The STO will work closely with SPARC Policy and Strategy consultants and administrative teams at the PMU and other SPARC state offices. This position is part of the management team of the state office and requires people with cognate experience.
Job Title: Senior Technical Officer DFID-SPARC policy & Strategy Team
Duty Responsibilities:
* Support the TCM in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with the State MDAs associated with activities prioritized under the SPARC Policy and Strategy work plans.
* Work closely with and facilitate Government officers, SPARC consultants and staff, and other key stakeholders to implement the P & S work plans;
* Support activities of P & S consultants, acting as a link with Government and ensure that the consultants fulfill their ToRs and collaborate appropriately with Government officers;

* Develop capacity and train technical and administrative staff on the practical application of GSI issues.
Requirements:
* Minimum undergraduate social science degree, masters required.
* Relevant work experience in programme support, project management or office administration essential
* Requisite knowledge of governance and development issues in Nigeria and international development Issues generally.
* Skills in utilising project management tools and software desirable
* Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications essential
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential
* Requisite knowledge of research, policy planning and strategy development tools, approaches, methodologies and challenges in Nigeria
* Familiarity with DFID or other donor assisted programmes in Nigeria would be an advantage.
